The Quindío is one of the departments that make up the Coffee Cultural Landscape of Colombia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site: green mountains planted with coffee and plantain, farmhouses with wide balconies and small towns with painted façades. From here you can reach the Parque Nacional del Café, the Cocora Valley with its wax palms, Salento, Filandia and Panaca in a day each. Distances are in a straight line from the hotel.

A park in Montenegro dedicated to coffee and the coffee culture, with gardens, a coffee museum, a walk through a plantation, viewpoints, a chairlift, rides and shows. Opening days and hours change through the year, so check them before you go.

A green valley near Salento where the Quindío wax palm, Colombia's national tree, rises to dozens of meters above the pastures. Willys jeeps run from the main square of Salento to the valley, and a hike of several hours loops through cloud forest. Bring a rain jacket: it is often misty and muddy.

One of the oldest towns in the Quindío, with a Calle Real of colorful houses, craft shops and cafés, and a stairway up to a viewpoint over the roofs and the valley. It is the usual base for the Cocora Valley and a good stop for lunch.

A quieter hill town known for its balconies and doors painted in bright colors, wicker and guadua craftwork and sunsets from its viewpoints. It is easy to combine with Salento and the Cocora Valley in the same day.

The National Park of Agricultural Culture, a farm-themed park where you can see farm animals, ostriches, horse and livestock shows and the rural traditions of the region. It is an easy plan if you travel with children.

Many farms around Montenegro, Calarcá and Quimbaya open their doors for coffee tours: you walk among the plants, see how the beans are picked, dried and roasted, and end with a tasting. Coffee and guadua bamboo cover the hillsides, and the region is part of the UNESCO Coffee Cultural Landscape.
Average high temperature and rainfall in Montenegro, month by month (approximate values from the Open-Meteo archive, 2014–2023 average). The rainfall figures come from a weather model over mountain terrain and tend to run high: use them to compare which months are wetter, not as exact amounts.

The El Edén international airport of Armenia (AXM), in La Tebaida, is 9.5 km from the hotel in a straight line; by road the trip takes a bit longer. It receives domestic flights, mainly from Bogotá. Schedules and airlines change, so check them before you book. Taxis wait outside the terminal, and you can also ask the hotel about arranging a transfer.
Pereira's Matecaña airport (PEI) is 31 km from the hotel in a straight line and usually has more flights than El Edén. From there it is a road trip of an hour or more to the Quindío, depending on traffic, by taxi or a pre-arranged transfer.
From Bogotá it is a long trip by road: allow many hours, since the Alto de La Línea mountain pass often has heavy truck traffic and fog. There are also bus services from Cali, Medellín and Pereira to the terminal in Armenia, and from there you continue by taxi.
Montenegro, Armenia (5.8 km), Salento (24.9 km), Filandia (19.9 km) and Quimbaya (9.7 km) are linked by good roads, but they are mountain roads with many curves, so the real trip takes longer than the map suggests. You can use taxis, hire a driver for the day, rent a car or join a tour. Willys jeeps take you from Salento to the Cocora Valley.
The currency is the Colombian peso. There are ATMs and many places accept cards in Armenia and the larger towns, but small farms, rural shops and some restaurants only take cash, so carry some.
From km 6 on the road from Montenegro to Pueblo Tapao. Walking and driving times from Expedia; the rest in a straight line.
